Plot
-Jeremy’s birthday.
-Brian arrives unexpectedly.
-Brian is mad at being uninvited.
-He tries to play a prank on Jeremy by putting a mouse in Jeremy’s pocket.
-Stopped by Shawn with the help of Jeremy’s mother.
Story:
“Hey, Shawn, uhh… would you come to my house for my birthday party?”Shawn, being the first time he was invited to a party, jumped up and down, grabbed Jeremy and replied, “Of course I will!”
Shawn was half walking and half skipping when he reached Jeremy’s house. He saw a great long queue and went to the end of it, happily hopping on one leg then the other.
Suddenly, Shaun heard several simultanious gasps. Shaun peeked in front and froze.
Brian was towering menacingly over the other students invited to the party. Brian is the great big bully of the school. It was well known that he once had beaten a boy to tears just beacsue he liked it. Why is he here? Shawn rushed to the front, to only see Jeremy staring at Brian shakily.
“What is the matter, my dear?” Jeremy’s kind mother felt that something was wrong.
“It’s nothing, mom. It’s just that… I’m very surprised he is...is...able to come…”
All the friends took one step back in rhythm just as Brian walked innocently into Jeremy’s house Shawn heard some whispers and some students discussing whether they should stay or not.
Shawn ignored all the whispers and took a step into Jeremy’s house. He pushed his present into Jeremy’s hands.
When Shawn looked up and stared, all the matter was pushed back into his mind. Jeremy’s house was totally cool! Shawn went towards the stairs, looked up, and was simply shocked at the multiple floors.
“A four-storey house?” He was greatly astonished. He stood there for a while, before snapping back into action and bounced to the table. He immediately started to drool, all kinds of food was placed within his reach. French fries, chicken wings, potato chips, it was as if he was in heaven.
When Shawn looked up, he saw Brian walked towards Jeremy and whispered, “You better come with me.” Jeremy shakily and fearfully followed Brian upstairs. Shawn, who was worried and curious, followed them secretly up the staircase.
“Why didn’t you invite me to your party? I had to force all these information out of your friend’s mouth!” Brian’s loud and rude voice cut in.
Shawn was shocked! Jeremy was getting bullied! Shawn looked down at the party below. Brian’s loud voice, no matter how loud, can’t cut through the music and noise below.
What shall I do? If I go up and reveal myself, I don’t even think I can beat Brian in a fight! Jeremy may also be hurt! But if I do not do anything, I still cannot just stand here and watch Jeremy getting bullied! What shall I do?
Shawn quickly thought through. Suddenly, he got an idea! Without delay, he dug out his phone and took a video of Brian scolding Jeremy. When Shawn zoomed in, he saw Brian’s hand reaching into Jeremy’s pocket and sneakily grinned.
Shawn suddenly realized what is happening. Brian is trying to play a mean trick on Jeremy! But, what should I do? If I do anything that might cause Brian to get scolded, he will be targeting me next!
After thinking for a while, Shawn crawled down the stairs and went to Jeremy’s mother. He explained the situation and showed her the recording.
Her face immediately started to puff up like a red balloon. “He dares to harm my son!”
Jeremy’s mother stormed up the stairs, and Brian, who heard the steps, turned white and quickly walked away, whistling. Jeremy wiped his tears, tucked in his shirt, and turned around acting normal.
Jeremy’s mother grabbed Jeremy and hugged him. “Oh my, what did he do to you?” Jeremy’s eyes were sore red from crying, and Jeremy broke into tears again. Jeremy’s mother dug into Jeremy’s pocket and took out a mouse. She was so mad that she did not even bother to react at the sight of a mouse.
All the friends stopped making noise and slowly started to climb up the stairs to see what was the fuss about. What they saw was Jeremy’s mother heavily reprimand Brian. They grinned.
“Thank you for helping. Without your help, I may be continuously bullied by Brian.” Jeremy thanked me, while his face was going red.
Shawn positively said, “No problem. I’ll always help you.”
